PBL(Problem Based Learning) applied in Art therapy classes

Abstract
PBL(Problem-Based Learning) is a teaching method to learn problem-solving process. The purpose of this study is to introduce PBL to practicing Art therapists, practicing therapists, and educators of Art therapy. PBL is the educational method that has been applied to both many foreign and domestic universities, especially medical colleges. This study introduce the example of PBL application in Art therapy classes to one of the programs in domestic universities. PBL has been applied to the class of Art therapy for 7 weeks in 2015. Then the students were asked to answer a questionnaire that surveyed Problem-solving skills, characteristics of children with disabilities, art therapy onsite practical skills and learning activities. Approximately 70% of the students responded affirmatively. PBL showed the learning effect through problem-solving methods because students directly participated in these processes. Therefore, futher studies will be continuously needed on how we apply PBL to various curriculums of Art therapy.
